Despite the many greats that have come out from the United States in the sport of tennis over the years, the state of American tennis at the moment is a sorry one. With the top ranked player – Sam Querrey, ranked at 20 in the world there is something that is really wrong. What worries the most is the fact that none of the American players on the roster seem to be anywhere near as good enough as their European counterparts.

However, if there is one player who is young and has the talent to perhaps trouble some of the better players, it has to Ryan Harrison. The 21 year-old is, unlike all Americans an all court player who has and his pace is a major aspect of his game. On top of that, Harrison also has a lot of power in his ground strokes, something that could hurt the top players.

Nonetheless, the right-hander has a dismal 6-15 record this year and he really needs to up the ante at the tour level if he wants to restore the faith put in him by a nation that has been crave for a Grand Slam champion for almost a decade now.

His task however will not be easy, as he is up against one of the more inform players on the ATP tour in Kevin Anderson. The South African has made two finals in 2013 and has an impressive win-loss record of 29-13 in 2013. Ranked at 21 in the world, Anderson will know he goes into the match as the favorite.

This will be the duo’s first meeting and on paper this one seems to be an easy win for the South African.
